1920's Assuit egyptian hammered silver metal & cotton mesh shawl

Features: This gorgeous assuit shawl is an iconic piece from the twenties Egyptian revival movement. The discovery of king tuts tomb in 1922 sparked an age of tourism and interest in Egyptian history and culture. These shawls were sold to tourists and from what I've been told, worn over the head as netting to protect from mosquitos on boat rides in Egypt. These shawls were hand crafted by hammering little pieces of metal onto a mesh backing by Egyptian artisans, originating in the town of Asyet. This shawl features a geometric diamond pattern. It has a nice weight and glistens as the light catches it.
Condition: In excellent condition. I've found a few small snags and broken threads in the mesh but nothing major. There is no tarnish to the metal or weakening of the fabric.

I accept US returns within 14 days of delivery. Please contact me here before shipping a return. Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. A refund will be initiated within 3 business days of your return being received and inspected.
